A 12-year-old from Houston wants just one gift for Christmas this year: a new heart for his mother.
The selfless Arnulfo Guerra Jr. wrote a letter to Santa Claus asking him to bring a gift for his mother who is desperately in need of a transplant. “Dear Santa, I believe in you and the miracles. Santa I don’t want toys for me, I want a healthy heart for my mom,” the letter read. “I’m sad for her. She’s 46 years and I’m only 12 … we need her for many years more.”

The Channelview Fire Department was heartbroken over the boy’s request. They couldn’t deliver a heart for the middle-school child or his Mom, but they did think that maybe a 12-year-old shouldn’t have such a heavy heart couldn’t deliver the heart himself. Their solution was to bring him a bicycle to free his own heart and allow him to live a little.
The surprise visit from the fire department lifted family spirits during their dark times and made everybody’s day just a little bit brighter. It’s the small things that make a difference really.
