BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – After receiving rave reviews after announcing they would allow stores to close on Thanksgiving, the Mall of America said Monday only three stores have chosen to remain open.
Macy’s, Sears and the Crayola Experience will be open on Thanksgiving Day, with all other stores keeping their doors closed.
Mall spokesperson Dan Jasper said only tenants with exterior entrances had the opportunity to stay open and they do not anticipate that list of three stores to change.
“We are so pleased that our tenants have embraced this opportunity to give their employees the day to enjoy Thanksgiving with their families and friends,” Jasper said.
The mall will open briefly for its annual event, “Walk to End Hunger,” which ends around noon on Thanksgiving. Jasper said once that event is over, the mall will be locked until 5 a.m. on Black Friday.
All information about the mall’s holiday hours will be posted on its website.
