The following four breeds will never fall behind no matter how fast you run.
Prefer a mutt? Look for a long snout, and a lean, muscular build.
Weimaraner
It was bred for chasing down bears and boars in dense forest, so Weimaraners see your trails and sidewalks as cake walks.
The breed also has webbed feet for crossing high water. (Plus, that fact helps to start conversations with female runners.)
Siberian Husky
No distance is too far for this furry sprinter, who will slog along-side you through mud, snow, and ice.
Just avoid hot weather and Iditarod recruiters.
Dalmatian
This dog has stamina, enthusiasm, and joy to spare, making it the ideal running buddy. It was once a fad breed (thanks, Disney), so pick your pup carefully. Make sure you have a vet check him out.
Mini American Shepherd
This quick-witted, confident herder is loyal and easily trainable. It’s also small enough for apartment living.
