Burger King dons a scary Halloween disguise: As a McDonald’s

A Burger King in New York has decided to flame-broil its arch-rival by dressing up for Halloween as the most terrifying thing it could imagine.

A McDonald’s.

A Burger King franchise in Queens temporarily covered the sign and the roof of the restaurant with a large white drape out of which a pair of eye holes were cut. The result: a giant ghost — with “McDonald’s” scrawled on it.

To reassure any customers thinking their Whoppers have been replaced by Big Macs, the sign reads “Boooooo. Just kidding, we still flame grill our burgers. Happy Halloween.”

According to AdWeek, the stunt is similar to one Pepsi pulled in 2013: cloaking a can in a Coca-Cola cape in an advertisement saying, “We wish you a scary Halloween!”.

It wasn’t the first Halloween scare McDonald’s has had to deal with this season: The prank comes a few weeks after McDonald’s put mascot Ronald McDonald on the sidelines in the wake of creepy clown sightings across the country.
