As an experienced police officer, Deputy Todd was able to instantly recognize the tattoos and clothing on the two men as gang members. Their appearances coupled with the menacing bloodlust in their eyes activated his fight or flight response–he knew he was in danger.

Deputy Todd continued to fight for his life. Even as a trained officer, this would be a tough battle. He had been outnumbered and injured. With the odds against him, Deputy Todd, even amidst the chaos, saw his life flash right before his eyes. Images of his beautiful wife and his children ran through his mind, as the thought of never seeing them again inflicted greater pain than his injury.

All Alone

The group of men dragged Deputy Todd’s limp body toward the nearby forest to avoid any of the many people driving on the highway from witnessing the assault. No other officers patrolled with him, so Todd didn’t expect to get any help…

Endless Torture

As he was being dragged toward the forest, he was being beaten to the core without any mercy. Todd was being choked by one of the gangbangers while being punched by the other two members. Todd knew all too well the reality of what his fate was likely to be…

Out for Blood

As the beating continued and they all moved deeper into the forest, one of the gang members looked Deputy Todd Frazier straight in the eyes, with a look of pure evil, chillingly stated that they had plans to “slit his throat.” The gang members had planned all along to kill Deputy Todd and dump his body…

An Opening

Before the violent men would proceed with their planned crime, Deputy Todd somehow was able to free one of his hands and press a button on his belt that would open the back door of his police car. Inside of it was his only possible way of making it out of this situation alive.

Partner in Law

Without the knowledge of the gangbangers, as soon as the door opened, his dog, Lucas, immediately sprung into action. He jumped out of the car and ran like a bullet toward Deputy Todd and the gang members.

An Unexpected Reinforcement

Although Deputy Todd was blinded, he knew that his beloved dog was coming to save him. He could hear Lucas’s growls and the panicking of the gang members. Lucas was ready to protect his trainer’s life at all costs.

Fight for Life

In Deputy Todd’s words, “I could hear him coming. I couldn’t see anything because the blood was all in my eyes, but I could hear him coming, growling, and making these sounds … he sounded like a wolf! I thought, ‘Now he’s gonna get you.’” Would Lucas be able to save Deputy Todd’s life?

Bloody Retaliation

The gangbangers were completely caught off guard. This had been the last thing they had expected. Lucas ended up biting one of the gang members on the leg, leaving him with an open gash. He would not be the only one to feel the wrath of Lucas…

Disarming Taken to New Depths

The other two criminals attempted to stop Lucas by attacking him with the box cutter but they would be no match for the trained attack dog. Lucas bit the gangbanger’s arm, causing the boxcutter to drop from his hand. The tables had turned. The gang members were now at the mercy of Lucas…

A Slim Escape

The three criminals fled to their blue Lincoln Town Car. They frantically turned on the ignition and managed to escape, but not before Lucas could sink his teeth into one of the men’s legs while they were driving away!

Blood-Coated Hero

When more police arrived on the scene, Deputy Todd’s face was dripping in his own blood while Lucas was completely covered in the blood of his victims. Thanks to the diligent training on Lucas that Deputy Todd Frazier did, the black Belgian Malinois was able to save his owner’s life from a dangerous group of monsters.

What Happened to Todd and Lucas?

Deputy Todd Frazier suffered a 2 1/2-inch cut to his forehead and multiple bruises but has no life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Hancock Medical Center and was released, and is now doing fine, thanks to Lucas. As for the canine hero, a few of his teeth have been chipped and his shoulder has been bruised, but fortunately, he will also be fine. As a bonus, Lucas has rightfully received the award of “Hero of the Year.”

Although the motives for this attack are unclear, it is a well-known fact that gang initiation involves the killing of any person belonging to law enforcement.
