No. 2 Clemson appeared to have smooth sailing into the College Football Playoff following the 2016 college football regular season, but the Tigers fell 43-42 to Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon in a stunning upset.
Panther kicker Chris Blewitt didn’t blow it – he drilled a 48-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining to upset the Tigers at Clemson.
It was the Tigers’ first home loss to an unranked opponent since the fell to Georiga Tech in 2008, and it ended several other streaks as well. Clemson was 5-0 in games decided by seven or fewer points this season, but this one got away from Dabo Swinney and Company.
Clemson had won 23 consecutive regular-season games, 21 in a row at home and had 15 consecutive conference victories.
