It’s hard to resist wanting to play outside in the snow and ice this time of year when you’re a child or rambunctious pet, but as we know, this can come with a terrible price to pay.
As you can see in this shocking rescue of a mom who tried to save her dog who fell in a pond, it’s not worth it to run out onto the ice… or trust yourself over first responders.
Luckily for one elderly canine companion in Connecticut, he’ll live to see one more Christmas morning, thanks to the local heroes at his fire department.
According to CBS2, firefighters came to the rescue of a 19-year-old German shepherd mix named Delilah who got herself stuck in a very scary situation, just before the holidays. The elderly dog wandered away from home and onto an ice-covered pond, but couldn’t get herself safely back to shore.
When the heroes arrived, CBS2 said they used a “rescue stick” from animal control to save the senior pooch, who was freezing from the frightening ordeal.
We’re so happy this old-timer made it out ok and is now back home and safe with his family. Nineteen years is very old for a dog, but it’s pretty awesome to see he’s still got his adventurous spirit!
