Here’s How to Stop Seeing Pictures of Your Ex on Facebook’s ‘On This Day’ Feature

While Facebook is great for many things; reliving memories of your more care-free days at college, watching hilarious videos of pugs and remembering your friends’ birthdays, being just a few, it can also be a little awkward in other ways thanks to its “On This Day” feature.

The daily feature acts like the TimeHop app, in that it brings up photographs you uploaded or were tagged in on the same day over the past few years for you to hopefully reminisce over. But unfortunately that doesn’t always happen, because sometimes it’s bad memories you’re reminded of. Like ones containing ex-partners. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

But thankfully, the folks over at have discovered there’s a way to ensure your memories don’t contain certain people or certain dates. GENIUS.

Here’s how it’s done:

    t

  • Open Facebook in an internet browser
  • t

  • On your news feed, look down the left-hand side for the Apps section and click on “On this Day”
This will open up your Memories page, where you’ll see the ‘Preferences’ button in the top right-hand corner

There, you can choose to “filter” as many people or dates as you wish from displaying.

And just like that, they’re out of your life again. It’s great that Facebook can be so understanding about these awkward situations.
