They say a dog can come into your life and make everything better. Finding love from a canine companion can be exactly what a person needs to open up their heart to other opportunities and even get the help they so desperately needed.
This couldn’t be more truer for America’s military heroes, one quarter of which are living in our country right now with severe mental and physical disabilities that are often forgotten by so many people.
Thankfully, we’ve been hearing about therapy and companion dogs for our nearly 19 million veterans more and more, and the results have been completely astounding.
Since the amazing nonprofit group “Hero Dogs” began a few years ago, they’ve helped many veterans who have been in such desperate need according to the following report from CBS News correspondent Chip Reid.
According to their website, “Hero Dogs, Inc., a Maryland 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, improves quality of life for our nation’s heroes by raising, training, and placing service dogs and other highly skilled canines, free of charge with lifetime support of the partnerships.”
