There are certain things at Christmas that are a given – you’ll hear Mariah Carey on repeat, every man’s Lynx Africa collection will be replenished, and you might just have something in your eye from watching the John Lewis advert.

Yep, let’s face it, now that The X Factor‘s live shows are on, everyone’s thinking about Christmas time, John Lewis adverts and wine…

And now, the music for the annual John Lewis Christmas advert, famous for turning the whole country into a sobbing mess, has been revealed – according to a mailout from industry types Record of the Day.

Despite everyone and their dog speculating that a David Bowie song would be on the cards, it’s actually a cover of Randy Crawford’s ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’.

It will be London-based electronica collective Vaults taking on the jazz classic. The group comprise of vocalist Blythe Pepino and fellow band members Ben Vella and Barney Freeman.

Listen to their song for the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Of Grey below…

Digital Spy has contacted Vaults for comment.

The music to 2015’s Man on the Moon tugged at our heartstrings with Norwegian newcomer Aurora covering Oasis’s ‘Half the World Away’.

In other years we’ve also had Ellie Goulding cover Sir Elton John’s ‘Your Song’, Lily Allen has done her take on Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ and Tom Odell performed a stripped-back John Lewis-ified version of ‘Real Love’ by The Beatles for 2014’s Monty the Penguin campaign.

So when can we expect the John Lewis Xmas ad 2016?

Well, according to Campaign, this year’s advert is expected to launch THIS WEEK on Thursday, November 10, breaking the recent tradition of it being debuted on the first Friday of the month.
