The fate of a Brooklyn woman, who is facing time behind bars for allegedly neglecting over 100 rabbits, is in the hands of the jurors.
“Be the voice of the rabbits, come back with a verdict of guilty,” said Assistant District Attorney Denise Siler in her closing statements for the trial against Dorota Trec.
Trec, 36, is accused of mistreating 126 bunny rabbits who lived outside behind a Gowanus tire shop in January 2015.
“Do they look sick? Do they not look happy? Their fur is beautiful,” said Trec as she showed photographs of the rabbits to the jurors.

Trec who is representing herself was reported by animal activists for leaving the furry tailed animals in the bitter cold season.
Authorities seized the cluster of rabbits for testing and found they were littered with disease and injuries.
“Fetus, urine, salt all in their cages. Rabbit pellets everywhere. This is how she treats her children,” said Siler.
Trec blames the police and ASPCA for injuring the rabbits during the two separate seizures.

“The rabbits from outside looks beat up. Who did that? Me? Not me,” said Trec as she paced back and forth in front of the six jurors.
If convicted, Trec faces a range of no jail time to up to two years in prison.
Jurors will continue to deliberate on Monday.
