After all, freckles have been quite the commodity as of late-in a good way! Backstage at shows like Adam Selman, Milly, and Preen, makeup artists forecast that freckles would be the beauty marks of spring/summer (pun intended), prompting brands to create products like Topshop’s Freckle Pencil for those with even skin tones to fake the freckles and others to enhance their inherent dots.
“We played with the idea of enhancing freckles across the nose and cheeks using green-ish and taupey pencils,” Mark Carrasquillo told us of the look he created backstage at Milly. “I told everyone to have fun with the freckles! I didn’t want to do anything that felt heavy or hard. I just wanted the models to look like cool girls hanging out at the beach that you want to know!”
Now, as much as we love that beachy look that Carrasquillo speaks of, we just couldn’t leave you without some real sun care advice. If underneath it all you’re a freckle-faced phenom like Kendall, embrace the spots you’ve got but protect them as best you can. As summer approaches, sun exposure is bound to darken your freckles. Chances are, if you’ve got ’em, you probably have fair skin, which is more sensitive to UV rays (and even skin cancer!). Be diligent about lathering on the sunscreen whenever you’re outdoors-yes, even during those April showers!
