Residents in Londonderry in Sydney’s west have been advised to take shelter as a bushfire burns out of control.

The fire is burning near The Northern Road in the Castlereagh Nature Reserve in the vicinity of Fourth Avenue, Spence Road, Llandilo Road and Mayo Road, the NSW Rural Fire Service reports.

Firefighters are on scene and water bombing aircraft are being sent to assist.
