Sometimes, you’re just really in the mood for roast duck. Thankfully, today, was not one of those days for this kitty.
That’s because this Mama cat, who recently had a litter of kittens of her own, has also taken on a flock of ducklings as well. After all, if you already have a few runts of your own, what’s a few more? Am I right, parents?
These little babies imprinted on the cat and the family has been inseparable since. Imprinting is a phenomenon that takes places in the animal kingdom in which babies, typically within the first five days after birth, will identify with a caregiver as their mother. Often they imprint on their actual mother, but they can do so with human rescuers, other ducks, or in this case, the cat.
It’s okay, though, because this cat was willing to accept the adorable ducklings as her own. She not just nurtures and cuddles with them, she ensures they are fed and even grooms them like they are tiny little kittens. The pint-sized ducklings will likely grow up acting just like cats.
