Mittens the cat has a story that could easily be turned into a major motion picture by Pixar.
While he may not be a clownfish crossing the Pacific Ocean like Nemo was, Mittens has been on the adventure of a lifetime. The curious cat got himself into a boatload of trouble after his family needed to repair their boat. Mom Cydni Flitton lives in Utah with her daughter, husband, and of course, Mittens the kitten.
One day, Dad had to take the family boat to Salt Lake City to get some repairs made, not realizing it, he inadvertently took the cat with him. Mittens enjoyed sleeping under the boat’s cover, where in the afternoon sun the tight space heats up, making a cozy place for a cat nap.
So when the mechanics ripped the cover off the boat and began the repairs, Mittens fled faster than Russel Brand running from a bar of soap. The scared and now stray cat stayed in the yard long enough to be frightened away by some dogs, and this is where the real story begins.
Nobody but Mittens knows what happened after that point (the mechanic shop clerk verified she heard a cat mewing in the yard) but Mittens’ journey was almost too incredible to behold. Mittens ended up crossing Wasatch Mountains, a mighty mountain range whose peaks reach as high as 10,000 feet.
The cat was eventually discovered in Park City, where he was brought to a local animal shelter. The Flitton family reunited with their pet soon after, and the happy camper made his way back home after what must have been an excruciating journey. We’re betting if cats could talk, he’d have his own memoir.
