My Morning Jacket & Ben Harper Perform On ‘Austin City Limits’

This weekend as part of its 42nd season, Austin City Limits premiered a new episode featuring My Morning Jacket and Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. MMJ’s performance featured the band playing four originals, while Ben Harper and crew offered up six of their own tunes.

My Morning Jacket pulled from their 2011 LP Circuital with renditions of the title track, “Wonderful (The Way I Feel)” and “Victory Dance.” Included among those performances, frontman Jim James also led the five-piece through a version of “Believe (Nobody Knows)” off of 2015’s The Waterfall.

Harper’s set saw takes on longtime favorites such as “Steal My Kisses” as well as selections from their 2016 record Call It What It Is including the title track, “Shine,” “When Sex Was Dirty” and “Goodbye To You.” The collective also took up an arrangement of “Where Could I Go,” which Harper recorded on the 2004 LP with The Blind Boys Of Alabama There Will Be A Light.
