Thought Nokia-branded phones were long-gone, never to surface again? Think again. Microsoft seems determined to keep the Nokia name alive in consumer’s hearts and minds. Huge rumors are making waves in the smartphone community online. These rumors claim that Nokia is gearing towards a big launch of Android phones in 2017. Lumia made some nice Windows devices but the OS just couldn’t break into the duopoly that is iOS and Android. With a few experiments in the Android space, Nokia seems confident their devices can soar with a full concentration on the Android platform.
A leaked slide made its way to the internet thanks to Nokiapoweruser.com. The slide is part of Nokia’s Capital Markets Day presentation highlighting the company’s roadmap from 2016 – 2018. We see Nokia’s main product concentrations, partnerships and acquisitions along with a very optimistic point under 2017: “Nokia brand’s return to smartphones”.
It’s hard not feeling nostalgic when talking about Nokia and phones. It’s great to see that Nokia isn’t giving up on smartphones. With the right technology and direction, it can be a formidable manufacturer. With 2017 not too far away, we won’t have to wait too long before a sneak peak to what’s in store.
