Princess Kate and Prince William Join the Royal Family for Festival of Remembrance

It was another royal affair for Prince William and Princess Kate, who arrived at the Royal Albert Hall for the annual Festival of Remembrance on Saturday.

Kate wore an above-the-knee-length quilted black coat with black pumps and a matching velvet clutch. Meanwhile, Will donned a navy suit with a red and blue striped tie, two medal pins. The couple wore red poppy pins – the symbol of remembrance for World War I and veterans. (Kate’s hair covered her bejeweled pin.)

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip also wore all-black ensembles were adorned with the signature poppy pin. Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also followed suit, and sported similar somber looks.

This year’s Remembrance Day marks the 100-year anniversaries of the Battle of Somme and the Battle of Jutland, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Gulf War, among others.

Another pair of royals rocking the poppy? Prince Harry and Monaco’s Princess Charlene. Harry, 32, who is the vice patron of the Rugby Football Union, cheered on the players in the Autumn International game at Twickenham stadium, where England faced off against Charlene’s native South Africa.

Before the game, Harry visited and laid a wreath at the newly-installed Rose and Poppy Gates, which were sponsored by the union. And on Friday, Harry delivered a moving reading and laid a wreath at a national memorial on Armistice Day, the day that marks the end of fighting during World War I.

On Sunday, there will be the somber Remembrance Day services centering on Whitehall’s War Memorial, the Cenotaph.
