Kass, a modern-day Lassie, works with special needs children diagnosed with Down Syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy.
Despite her youth, Kass already has numerous awards under her belt, especially in regards to rehabilitation. Kass has worked with special needs children for more than three years, sharing memorable moments with young children and teaching kids with disabilities the importance of nonverbal communication.
Canines have long been used in the medical field for years, providing assistance to patients with special needs, like people who need seeing-eye dogs. They’ve served as aids to people with psychological issues, deaf patients, and even patients suffering from PTSD.
Tuna Talaş, the head of Private Mavi Barış Rehabilitation Center said that Kass is a very effective educator of children with atypical autism. She works well with children who have severe communication problems and those who can’t seem to sit still.
“There are some dogs that are used as rehabilitation dogs around the world but in Turkey we have never come across a dog that we can put this much trust in. Kass is a perfect dog, there are dozens of children over the years that have been educated through working with Kass,” said Talaş
