Santa Visits Little Girl Who Was In A Coma On Christmas

For many kids, the holidays are the highlight of the year since their lives are touched with magic when Santa Claus comes to town and delivers presents.

Unfortunately, one Texas four-year-old named Layla was in a coma this past holiday season and missed all the magic, and was understandably devastated when she woke up from the coma and found out that Santa and the holidays had already come and gone.

Four years ago, Layla was born premature and tragically lost her mother soon after she was born. Layla’s entire life has been a fight to survive, and in the past two years, she has been in and out of the hospital battling respiratory problems and seizures.

This past holiday season, Layla was in a coma fighting Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and a collapsed lung in the Baylor Scott White McLane Children’s Hospital. “Me and my husband were here with her. We didn’t get to go home to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. It was very hard, we were strong for her. We had to be and she pulled through thank you god she’s done an amazing job.” Layla’s grandma Rebecca Garcia said.

When she woke up, her entire family was thrilled, yet she was devastated that she missed Christmas. To make it up to her, her family reached out to Santa Clause to see if he would make a special trip for their special fighter. “Layla is Layla, you can’t know Layla without that sassiness. She’s strong, She’s strong-willed, she’s strong -minded,” Garcia said. Santa Claus happily agreed to make the trip and this past week, he surprised her with a  visit and brought along some of her favorite toys like stuffed animals, Dallas Cowboys accessories, and Minnie Mouse toys.
