School Makes 5-Year-Old Girl With Alopecia Remove Her Wig

A mom from Great Britain is understandably furious at her daughter’s school after she came completely humiliated.

Twenty-seven-year-old mom Lianne Corbett says her 5-year-old daughter Apryl was delighted when she finally got her own wig after being bullied by classmates for 14 bald spots on her head.

The poor little girl has been suffering from alopecia areata, a condition known as spot baldness that often affects children and teenagers for the last year. However, when her sweet daughter finally got her wig and wore it to school, she was soon destroyed when a physical education teacher made her take it off, citing that it breached health and safety rules of the school.

“When she came home she said she was really sad because she didn’t want people to see her hair,” Lianne Corbett told the Daily Mail. “She was so pleased when she had the wig on. She had the biggest smile on her face.”

“I told them I wasn’t happy and if she can’t have it on then I’d take her home as I don’t want to risk her being bullied,” said Lianne. “They were persistent that she could not wear it.”

Even though Apryl’s mom said the school contacted her to tell her that her daughter’s wig was not part of the school uniform, she told Daily Mail, “They kept saying they have kids with cancer in the school and deal with situations like this all the time.” Lianne has reportedly since pulled her daughter from the Broad Oak Community Primary School
