For those who are fortunate enough to accumulate frequent flyer miles, you know how coveted those things are.
You hoard them all year until you acquire enough to skip town and go on a holiday in a warm place for just a few days. But one selfless couple decided to skip skipping town and instead donated their frequent flyer miles to a Marine battling cancer in Oregon.
According to KTEN, all De’Aundrae Sims wanted for Christmas was to see his 5-year-old son Ke’Aundrae, who currently lives with his Mom in Oklahoma. Now, the boy and his mother are heading West on Christmas Eve to see his grateful father who has been battling acute myeloid leukemia.
The couple who made the donation was not identified and was simply referred to as a Secret Santa. In an interview, they said they heard about the story and knew something had to be done. In addition to donating the extra flyer miles, they also paid for lodging for lodging for Ke’Aundrae and his mom.
A family member Crystal Kilpatrick said there are not enough words in the dictionary that can accurately express her gratitude. She said the family is eager to make the trip and Ke’Aundrae can’t wait to be reunited with his father.
