Because Pokémon happened a minute ago, and the fashion industry is slow to catch up on pop culture trends, the world is now the new recipient of a high fashion Pokémon collection.
New York City-based Prabal Gurung is responsible for this amalgamation of gaming and couture. Prabal Gurung X Pokémon, which is surprisingly cute because it’s not a literal take on the little ‘mons, is available exclusively at Jeffrey New York starting today and includes nine pieces total. You’ll find printed T-shirts, pink slacks, sheer-paneled pencil skirts, and shift dresses among the Jigglypuff-, Pikachu-, and Squirtle-inspired items.
While the garments might be adorable, their prices will truly set you back. Shirts retail for $325 and everything else ranges from $895 to $1,795 (for an admittedly *fire* Charmander mini).
With this collection, the label hopes to reach a younger (and somehow flush with cash?) audience. “The Prabal Gurung customer is always a strong, passionate, global, and modern woman,” the designer said in a statement. “With this collection, we engage a younger clientele who still embraces our elevated sense of style. Working with the Pokémon brand provided a fun and whimsical opportunity to be able to have a conversation with this youthful customer.”
