For lots of people (us included), if there were only one spot they were allowed to use concealer, they’d opt for the under-eyes, no contest. Because dark circles and puffiness never go away. But even when you use those special concealers made just for the undereye area, it never really stays on. Your bags and darkness are concealed for about two hours, then midday rolls around and it’s all cracked or creased and generally looking even messier than before you put concealer on. We desperately needed to know how to fix this problem.
Thanks to Reddit and Jeffree Star, we have a solution. In a Reddit thread, one user wrote that she discovered a trick for locking in concealer under her eyes after watching a Jeffree Star tutorial. It’s shockingly easy. “I watched Jeffree Star’s video and saw he used a damp Beautyblender with powder to set the under-eyes, instead of a brush and now my under-eyes never crease,” she writes.
The user is referring to Star’s video reviewing La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation. After applying concealer under his eyes, he quickly grabs a damp Beautyblender and dips it in Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. Before the concealer dries, he dabs the powder-covered end of the Beautyblender on top of his undereye concealer. “If you’ve never tried this trick, you’re missing out, because the powder literally melts right into your skin,” says Star. It’s basically a form of baking-letting your makeup sit on your skin before blending it all in. You let the concealer set into your skin, then by applying the wet powdered Beautyblender right after, you work to lock in that concealer for the long haul. Check out Star’s video below:
