Trans models Benjamin Melzer and Loiza Lamers signed on with Diesel for an ad campaign promoting the fashion brand’s collaboration with German clothing line About You.

This campaign won’t be the models’ first run in the modeling world, however: according to The Telegraph, Melzer was the first trans model to appear on the cover of Men’s Health in Europe and Lamers won Holland’s Next Top Model last year.

Considering the fashion world’s turn against traditional gender roles and the increased visibility of trans people in the media, Diesel’s decision to sign Melzer and Lamers was not surprising. A spokesperson for the brand said the models “perfectly support the brand’s attitude-free-spirited, against all odds, and fresh young minds.”

According to Mic, the models were in the middle of planning a concept shoot to raise awareness for trans visibility in the modeling world when Diesel contacted Melzer. “Diesel heard the idea and loved it,” he said.
