“Vice President-elect Pence we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us here at Hamilton the musical. We really do. We, sir, we are a diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that this new administration will not protect us,” Dixon stated as the audience cheered.
He later said, “I would truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values on behalf of all of us-all of us.”
According to New York Times reporter Patrick Healy, director Lin Manuel Miranda, producer Jeffrey Seller and the cast wrote the statement after learning Pence was attending.
