Despite being over 100 years old, one Arkansas woman refuses to slow down and regularly visits her local Walmart to get her shopping done and keep busy.

Over the years, the store’s employees have gotten to know 104-year-old Geneva Kendrick, and they’ve become like family to her. “When she comes in the store, she pushes her own buggy. She loads her stuff up on the conveyer belt,” said Kris Hudson, Walmart associate. “Everyone is so friendly and nice and I enjoy talking to them,” Kendrick said.

So when Kendrick’s 104th birthday was approaching, the employees got together and decided they wanted to do something special for her to show how much they cared about her. Together, they organized a surprise birthday with balloons, cake, and a present.

When the day came, the employees guided Kendrick into the store’s break room and revealed their surprise. “It couldn’t be better! It’s the most wonderful one I’ve ever attended,” said Kendrick, who broke down in tears when she walked in and saw the entire party was just for her. “Extra, extra special. I can’t explain how special it really was and is,” Kendrick said. “Mrs. Geneva is someone very special to us. We figured it was the least we could do for her,” Hudson said.
