Ever since Instagram took style tips from Snapchat’s Stories, it’s become clear that visual to-the-minute updates are en vogue. The two platforms were virtually carbon-copies of each other, but Instagram had a leading edge over its competitor in one major way. No longer is that the case.
By tapping on the left-hand side of an Instagram Story, you can rewind it (in case you didn’t get a close enough glimpse at that contour tutorial). reports Snapchat just adopted that feature, and you can access it once you update to the latest version. Tap the left side of the Snapchat Story and you’ll see a split screen that reads “Go Back” or “Next Snap.” Previously, you had to scroll down your friend list to re-watch it, and ain’t nobody got time for that. You can save them and send them to another contact, too. What’s more is that their new World Lenses allow you to slap a filter not just on a selfie, but on any object, notes TechCrunch.
In the past, you could draw and decorate Stories with emojis on both platforms, see who viewed them, and filter them to your heart’s content. But the addition of the rewind function proves that we’re all hungry for Snapchat Stories to last more than a few seconds – or 24 hours at best.
